Men's Golf Take 5th at Tee Off Classic
Chino, CA - SCC men’s golf opened their season with a 5th place finish in the 11 team tee off classic invitational held at Los Serranos golf course. The teams played this two day tournament on both the north and south courses. Sophomore, Justin Wilcock shot 70-79 149 and was low man for the Hawks. Justin had a 5 under par back nine to highlight his first round. Braden Duesler 76-75 151, Ryan Tarr 78-79-157, Jacob Corbin 78-79-157, Parker Ashton 81-79-160, and Kevin Lee 83-82-165 rounded out the scoring for the Hawks.

Men's Golf Finishes 4th at State
Fresno, CA - The Hawks shot 388 in the morning round and were sitting in 8th place, 18 shots behind the leader. But the Hawks shot 370 (lowest score of the tournament) in the afternoon and finished 4 shots behind the eventual champion Chabot College. The comeback was led by Steven Gouirand's 4 under par 68. Braden Duesler 74 73 147 (Individually tied for 5th) Jordan Guillen 74 75 149 Steven Gouirand 83 68 151, Justin Wilcock 74 79 153, Matt Coulter 83 75 158, Max Letarte 84 83 167, The team scored were: Chabot 754, College of the Desert 756, Reedley 757, and Santiago Canyon 758.

Men’s Golf Qualifies for the State Championships
Palm Springs, CA - The SCC Men’s Golf Team finished 4th at the Southern Cal Regionals at Bermuda Dunes G. C. Monday, May 9th and qualified for the state tournament. It is the first time in school history that our golf team has made it to the state tournament. Leading the way for the Hawks in the regionals were Braden Duesler 73-75-148, Steven Gouirand 75-74-149, Jordan Guillen 80-72 152, Justin Wilcock 77-85-162, Max Letarte 81-83 164, and Matt Coulter 94-94-188.

Men's Golf Advances to Regionals
Chino, CA - The SCC Men’s Golf team finished 3rd in the Orange Empire Conference with a 10-6 conference record.They shot 369-373-742 for a 3rd place finish at Los Serranos. By virtue of the 3rd place finish in conference they will advance to Regionals on May 9th at Bermuda Dunes golf course. Leading the way at Conference Finals were Jordan Guillen 73-69 -142 and Braden Duesler 74-71-145. Both had 9 birdies for the day. Jordan was co-medalist in the 32 man event. Justin Wilcock 77-74 -151, Max Letarte 74-78 152, Steven Gouirand 71-81 152, and Matt Coulter 80 -81 161 rounded out the scoring.

Hawk Finish Regular Season with a Win
Riverside, CA - SCC Men’s Golf finish conference play with a win over Riverside.The Hawks improved their record to 9-5 in conference play with a win at Victoria Country Club. The Hawks shot 386 to beat Riverside by three shots. Braden Duesler led the way with a 74 which included 4 birdies. Jordan Guillen 76,Steven Gouirand 77, Max Letarte 79, Justin Wilcock 80, and Matt Coulter 81 rounded out the scoring.
Next up: The Hawks will compete in the Conference Finals at Los Serranos on May 2nd.

SCC Goes 2-1 in Match
Chino, CA - SCC Men’s Golf defeated Palomar and Cuyamaca and lost to Saddleback while hosting a conference match Wednesday, April 6th at El Prado. The scores were Saddleback 362,Santiago Canyon 366, Cuyamaca 376,and Palomar 377. SCC score of 366 (6 over par) was the best team score they have posted this season. The Hawks were again led by Steven Gouirand with a 2 under par 70. Jordan Guillen 73,Braden Duesler 73,Justin Wilcock 74,Matt Coulter 76, and Max Letarte 79 rounded out the scoring. The Hawks go to 8-4 in conference and are currently in 3rd place. Next up is Irvine Valley at Oak Creek G.C. on Wednesday April 13th.

Hawks Defeat Lasers and Pirates
Chino Hills, CA - SCC Men’s Golf picked up two big wins Monday, March 28th by beating Orange Coast and Irvine Valley. SCC shot 373 while IVC shot 375 and OCC shot 376. Steven Gouirand led the way by shooting a 4 under 68. He had 5 birdies and 1 bogey in his round. Jordan Guillen 72, Braden Duesler 75, Max Letarte 77, Matt Coulter 81, and Nolan Moore 82 rounded out the scoring. The match was held at El Prado Butterfield golf course. The two wins brings SCC's conference record to 4-3.

Men's Golf Gets 2nd Conference Win
El Cajon, CA - SCC Men’s Golf got their 2nd conference win by beating Cuyamaca College at Cottonwood golf course on Monday, March 21st. SCC shot 375 and Cuyamaca shot 408 on the par 72, 6700 yard layout. The Hawks were led by sophomore, Steven Gouirand with a one over par 73. Gouirand had four birdies on his round. Matt Coulter 75, Max Letarte 75, Braden Duesler 75, Nolan Moore 77, and Jordan Guillen 79 rounded out he scores. Matt Coulter's round was highlighted by a holeout from the fairway on the par 4 10th hole for an eagle two. The Hawks go to 2-3 with the win and host OCC and IVC next Monday at El Prado.

Santa Ana, CA - SCC Men’s Golf lost a close conference match to Orange Coast COllege on Wednesday, March 16th at Santa Ana country club. Orange Coast shot a team score of 382 and SCC shot 392. Braden Duesler led the Hawks with a 4 over par 76. Jordan Guillen 77,Max Letarte 78,Steven Gouirand 78, Justin Wilcock 83, and Matt Coulter 87 rounded out the scoring. The Hawks go to 1-3 in conference and play Cuyamaca next at Cottonwood golf course.

Men's Golf Loses to Saddleback
Rancho Santa Margarita, CA - SCC Mens golf lost to Saddleback Monday March 7th at Tijeras Creek golf course. The team scores were Saddleback 379, Santiago Canyon 389, and Riverside 407. Leading the way for SCC was sophomore Steven Gouirand with a 73. Steven had five birdies for the day and was medalist for the tournament. Jordan Guillen, a freshman from El Dorado, also had a good day with a three over par 74. He also had five birdies for the day. Braden Duesler 77, Justin Wilcock 79,Matt Coulter 86, and Nolan Moore 90 rounded out the scoring.SCC is now 1-2 in conference. Next conference match is Wednesday, March 16th at OCC.

Santiago Canyon Beat Citrus
Chino, CA - The SCC Men’s Golf team beat Citrus College in a non-conference match Wednesday at El Prado. The two teams tied with a score of 373, but the Hawks won on the sixth man’s score. Matt Coulter led the way with a one under, par 71. Nolan Moore and Steven Gouirand had 75, Justin Wilcock and Max Letarte had 76 and Jordan Guillen had a 77.

San Marcos, CA - The Hawks lost to Palomar on Monday, February 28 at the Twin Oaks golf course. This loss takes the Hawks to 1-1 in conference. Matt Coulter led the way for the Hawks with a score of 75. Steven Gouirand 76, Braden Duesler 76, Jordan Guillen 77, Max Letarte 79, and Nolan Moore 81 rounded out the scoring. SCC shot a team total of 383, while Palomar edged out the victory shooting a team total of 376.

Cypress, CA - SCC Men’s Golf defeated Host Cypress and Riverside in their conference opener at Strawberry Farms golf course on Wednesday, February 23rd. The team scored were: SCC 392, CYP 407, and RIV 417. Freshman, Jordan Guillen, was the medalist for the tournament with a score of 74. Steven Gouirand 76, Max Letarte 80, Braden Duesler 80, Nolan Moore 82 and Matt Coulter 87 rounded out the scoring.

Hawks Finish 6th at Pnomonia Open
Victorville, CA - SCC Men’s Golf played in the Pnomonia Open at Spring Valley Lake golf course in Victorville on Monday, February 7th. The format for the tournament was best ball – so each school had three two man teams. SCC shot 65-72-75, with a team score of 212 and finished 6th in the twelve-team tournament. Individually Steven Gouirand and Nolan Moore shot a 7 under par 65 and finished tied for first place. However, they lost in a card-off and finished 2nd. Matt Coulter and Braden Duesler shot 72 and Ryan Tarr and Jordan Guillen shot 75.

Hawks Finish 6th at Tee-Off Classic
Chino, CA - The Men's Golf team finish 6th in a 11 team tournament at Los Serranos this past week. The Hawks shot 392 and 388 for a two day total of 781. Max Letarte, a sophomore from Servite High School, led the way with a two day total of 3 over par 149. Individually, that placed him 5th out of 66 players. Nolan Moore 156, Steven Gouirand 158, Jordan Guillen 161, Braden Duesler and Matt Coulter 162, rounded out the scoring.

Connor Covington Wins Individual State Championship
Banning, CA - Connor Covington wins the State Men’s Golf Championship. Connor Covington shot 70-70-140 four under par at Oak Valley Golf Course Monday to win the Men’s State Golf Championship. The SCC sophomore became the first golfer from our school to win the state championship. Connor is a graduate from Villa Park High School and a two time All-Conference Orange Empire selection. He was the medalist this season at Conference finals with a rounds of 69-70-139 five under par.

Covington Qualifies For State Championships
Murrieta, CA - Connor Covington qualified for the Men’s Golf State Tournament. Covington will be playing Monday, May 17th at Oak Valley Golf Club in Banning, CA for the state championship competition. The sophomore from Villa Park High School qualified by shooting 75-73-148 at the Regionals Monday, May 10th at SCGA golf course in Murrieta, CA. Covington is a two-time All Orange Empire Conference selection. He was medalist at the Conference Finals with a solid 5 under par 69-70- 139 performance at Los Serranos.

Chino, CA - SCC shot a team 36 hole total of 745 at Los Serranos Monday, May 3rd, to finsh 3rd in conference with a 13-7 record . SCC will advance to regionals next week in Murrieta at the SCGA golf course. Leading the way for SCC in conference was Connor Covington who shot a 69-70, 5 under par for the day. He was medalist for the tournament. He had 12 birdies for the day. Julian Ramirez also stood out with a 75-72 (33) on his final 9 holes. This sweep puts the Hawks in 1st place in conference with an 11-5 record. Conference finals will be May 3rd at Los Serranos with the Hawks trying to win a conference championship and advance to Regionals.

Chino Hills, CA - Men’s Golf lost a close match to Saddleback, but defested Riverside at El Prado on Wednesday April 7, 2010. The team scores were Saddleback 388, Santiago Canyon 389, and Riverside 393. It was tough conditions with winds blowing 40-50mph for most of the front nine holes. SCC individual scores were: Matt Coulter 75 (3 under back nine), Joey Depietro 77, Connor Covington 77, Kevin Harter 80, Julian Ramirez 80, and Steven Gouirand 86. This result brings the Hawks record in conference to 7-5.

Men's Golf Defeats Riverside
Riverside, CA - Men’s Golf had their biggest win of the year on Wednesday when they beat conference leader Riverside at Victoria Country Club. SCC shot a season low of 370 to beat Riverside 380, IVC 382, and Cuyamaca 408. Leading the way for the win was Joey Depietro with a one under par 71 (4 Birdies). He was the medalist for the tournament. Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks was Steven Gouriand 74 (4 Birdies), Connor Covington 75, Matt Coulter 75, Julian Ramirez 75, and Nick Hanna 77. It was the first time all season that all six players were in the 70’s. SCC goes to 2-3 in conference and plays again Monday at Cuyamaca.

Hawks Finish 2nd
Men’s golf had another strong showing in its 2nd tournament of the year. The hawks finished 2nd in the 14 team Victor Valley Invational held at Spring Valley Lake golf course Feb 8th. The format was two man best ball, with each school having three two man teams. SCC finished at 201 one stroke behind champion Ventura college. Leading the way was Connor Covington and his partner Matt Coulter with a 66, Julian Ramirez and Steve Gouirand 67, and Joey Depietro and Max Letarte with a 68.
The Mens’ golf team will play next at the Rio Hondo Invational this Friday Feb 12th at California C.C.

Santa Maria Finishes One Over Par at State Championships
Roseville, CA - Santiago Canyon College (SCC) freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) shot a two-round total of 145 to finish in a tie for 21st place at the 2009 California Community College Men's Golf Championships held at the Sierra View Country Club.
Santa Maria shot a 3-under-par 69 in his first round as he finished with three birdies and no bogies. He finished with a 76 in the second round to finish 1-over-par for the event.
Fresno City College won the team championship with a total team score of 712, followed by Palomar College in second place (728) and Ventura College in third place (729). Kendall Jenkins from Riverside Community College took individual honors as he finished with a 4-under-par total of 140.

Santiago Canyon Finishes 5th At Southern California Regional Championships
Lompoc, CA - The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team finished in fifth place out of 11 teams with a total score of 770 at the 2009 Southern California Men's Golf Regional Championships held at the Marshallia Golf Club.
As a team, the Hawks finished one spot from making the state championship round. Individually, freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) finished in a tie for eighth place with a two-round score of 148 to earn a spot in the state final. The 2009 California Community College Men's Golf State Championships will take place on Monday, May 11 at the Sierra View Country Club in Roseville, CA.
Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) finished in a tie for 13th place with a 151 and lost in a sudden death playoff for the final state championship qualifying spot. After sticking an iron to within four feet from 100 yards, his competitor holed out from the same distance to end the playoff in dramatic fashion.
Other scores for SCC included freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) in a tie for 21st place (153), freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) in a tie for 41st place (158) and sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) in a tie for 49th place (160). Sophomore Kyle Hall (El Modena HS) had to withdraw due to an injury.
The top four teams from Southern California included Palomar College, Santa Barbara City College, Ventura College and College of the Canyons. Andrew Perez from Santa Barbara City College earned medalist honors as he finished with a 141 (69-72).

Parkovich Leads Santiago Canyon at Orange Empire Conference Finals
Chino Hills, CA - The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team finished in second place with a team score of 740 at the 2009 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Finals held at the Los Serranos Golf Club led by the efforts of standout Matt Parkovich.
The freshman from Edison High School finished the 36-hole tournament with a 5-under-par 141 (69-72) to earn medalist honors. During his round of 69, Parkovich made seven birdies. He was also named the OEC Player of the Year as he finished with the lowest average in the conference (71.58).
Other scores for SCC included freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) with a 147 (73-74), freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) with a 152 (73-79), sophomore Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) with a 153 (70-83), sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) with a 154 (74-80) and freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) with a 156 (76-80). Covington also earned a spot on the All-OEC Team as he finished with the 11th hightest average during the season (74.5).
Palomar College took first with a team score of 720, while Orange Coast College finished in third place at 749. Cypress College finished in fourth place (761) and Cuyamaca College finished fifth (783).
Overall, SCC finished third in the OEC with a 12-8 record. The Hawks advanced to the Southern California Regional Championships to be held on Monday, May 4 at the Marshallia Ranch Golf Club in Lompoc, CA. Nine team make up the regional championships and four teams will advance to the state championship round to be held a week later in Sacramento.

Hawks Impressive in Victory over RCC
Moreno Valley, CA - The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team finished at even-par as a team with an impressive score of 360 in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory over host Riverside Community College (RCC) Monday afternoon at the par-72 Moreno Valley Ranch Golf Club.
The Hawks improved to 9-7 in conference heading into the OEC Championships. Palomar College finished at 374, while Cuyamaca College shot 394 and RCC shot 404. In conference competition, the host squad is the only team to compete head-to-head with other teams.
Sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) led SCC as he earned medalist honors with a 3-under-par round of 69. After finishing with a double bogey on the first hole, Wilson collected six birdies on the last 17 holes to finish 5-under-par on the afternoon. Freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) also finished with six birdies as he fired a 2-under-par round of 70.
Freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) shot a 1-under-par 71 which included five birdies and freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) finished with an even-par 72. Other scores for SCC included freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) with a 78 and sophomore Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) with an 80.

Chino, CA - The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team moved to 8-7 in the Orange Empire Conference Monday afternoon at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course. The Hawks finished with a team score of 366 to pick up victories over Saddleback College (378) and Cuyamaca College (388), while dropping their match against Orange Coast College (364).
Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) led SCC as he finished with five birdies and an eagle to shoot a 2-under-par round of 70. Sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) made four birdies to card an even-par round of 72.
Other scores for the Hawks included freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) with a 73, sophomore Kyle Hall (Foothill) with a 75, freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) with a 76 and freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) with an 85.

Hawks Defeat Saddleback at Tustin Ranch
Tustin, CA - The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team defeated Saddleback College in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 Tustin Ranch Golf Club.
Sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) and freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) led the Hawks as they each fired a 1-under-par round of 71. Ramirez finished his round with four birdies and Wilson's round was his personal best at Tustin Ranch during his career at SCC.
Other scores for the Hawks included freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) with a 73, sophomore Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) and freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) each with a 75 and freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) with a 79. Hall made eagle on the par-four fifth hole, while Santa Maria collected an eagle on the ninth hole.

Hawks Pick Up Three Wins in Conference
Chino, CA - The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team improved its record in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) to 6-5 with an impressive team score of 358 Monday afternoon at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course.
The Hawks, who hosted Riverside City College (371), Irvine Valley College (373) and Santa Ana College (373), finished 2-under par as a team to pick up three wins in conference. SCC also finished 4-under-par as a team on the last six holes led by freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) who finished three under on the back nine to card a 2-under-par round of 70.
Freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) finished his day with six birdies to shoot a 1-under-par round of 71, while sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) made four birdies to finish with an even-par round of 72. Freshman Connor Covington also carded a 72 for SCC, while freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) finished at 73. Sophomore Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) finished his day with a 2-over-par round of 74.
The top five individual scores from each squad are used to calculate the final team score and in conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams.

Parkovich Leads SCC to Win over Orange Coast
Santa Ana, CA - Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) led the Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team to an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory over host Orange Coast College Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 Santa Ana Country Club.
Parkovich shot an even-par 72 to earn medalist honors as the Hawks came away with a narrow 387-388 victory. With the win, SCC improved to 3-5 in conference play.
Other scores for the Hawks included freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) with a 77, freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) and sophomore Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) each with a 79, freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) with an 80 and sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) with an 85. The top five individual scores from each squad are used to calculate the final team score.

Hawks Finish 5th at Canyons Invitational
Simi Valley, CA- The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team finished in fifth place out of 18 teams with a total team score of 392 at the 2009 Canyons Invitational held at the par-72 Wood Ranch Golf Club.
Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) led the Hawks with a 4-over-par round of 76. Sophomore Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) finished with a 78 in his first action this season for SCC. Other scores included freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) with a 78, freshmen Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) and Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) each with and 80 and sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) with an 86.
Santa Barbara City College took first place with a low team score of 381, followed by College of the Canyons in second with a 387 and Long Beach City College in third with a 389.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA- The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team shot a total team round of 375 to defeat host Saddeback College (381) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 Tijeras Creek Golf Club.
Freshman Joey DePietro (El Modena HS) finished with three birdies to shoot an even-par round of 72 in leading the Hawks (2-5 OEC). Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) wasn't far behind as he carded a 1-over-par 73.
Other scores for SCC included sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) and freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) who each finished with a 76. Wilson finished his round with two birdies and an eagle. SCC Shoots 364 in Tough OEC Match
Chino, CA- The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team lost a pair of tough matches Monday afternoon in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) contest at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course. Despite shooting their lowest team round of the season at 364, the Hawks fell to 1-4 in conference with losses to Palomar College (359) and Cypress College (361).

Hawks Drop Match to IVC on Sixth Card Playoff
Irvine, CA- The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team lost to host Irvine Valley College in a sixth card playoff Wednesday afternoon in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match at the par-71 Oak Creek Golf Club. With the scored tied at 378-378 after adding up the top five individual scores from each team, the Lasers took the match on the sixth card.
Freshmen Joey DePietro (El Modena HS) and Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) led SCC as they both finished with a 2-over-par round of 73. DePietro finished his day with only 25 putts, while Parkovich birdied four straight holes after starting 4-over-par on the first eight.
Other scores for the Hawks (1-2 OEC) included freshmen Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) with a 3-over-par 74, sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) with a 76, freshmen Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) with an 82 and freshman Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) with an 86. Ramirez finished with five birdies on the back nine to shoot a 32 on the second half of the course.
Other team scores included Cuyamaca College at 392 and Saddleback College at 405. In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams.

Chino Hills, CA- The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team improved to 1-1 in the Orange Empire Conference with a 374-383 victory over host Santa Ana College Monday afternoon at the par-72 Los Serranos Golf Club (north course).
The Hawks were led by freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) who finished with four birdies and an eagle to shoot a 1-under-par 71. Not far behind was freshmen Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) who carded a even-par 72 which included an eagle on the par-four 12th hole and Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) who played three-under the last six holes.
Other scores for SCC included sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 79 and freshmen Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) and Joey DePietro (El Modena HS) each with an 80. Cypress, CA- The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team dropped its Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opener to host Cypress College 372 to 379 Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 Navy Golf Course.
Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) led the Hawks (0-1 OEC) as he finished with a 1-under-par 71 to earn medalist honors. He finished with three birdies and two bogies to record his second consecutive 71 for SCC.

Freshmen Duo Lead Santiago Canyon to Second Place Finish at Rio Hondo Open
Whittier, CA - Freshmen Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) and Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) led the Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team to a second place finish in the 20-team field at the 2009 Rio Hondo Open Friday afternoon at the par-72 California Country Club.
Both players finished with a 1-under-par round of 71 to earn medalist honors as the Hawks finished with a total team score of 376. With rain coming down during play on the back nine, Covington made four birdies on the last five holes to earn a share of the individual tournament title.
Other scores for SCC included freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) with a 75, freshman Joey DePietro (El Modena HS) with a 78 and sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) and freshman Tyler Paul (Edison HS) each with a 81.

La Verne, CA - The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team shot a team score of 367 to finish two shots behind host Citrus College in a non-conference match at the par-71 Marshall Canyon Golf Course.
Freshman Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) led the Hawks as he finished his day with four birdies to card a 2-under-par 69. Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) finished with a 1-over-par 72, while freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) finished with a 73. Santa Maria recorded five birdies during his round.
Other scores for SCC included freshman Joey DePietro (El Modena HS) with a 76, sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 77 and freshman Tyler Paul (Edison HS) with a 78.
Citrus College shot a total team score of 365, while Glendale College finished third with a 376.

Hawks Finish Fourth at Tee-Off Classic
Chino Hills, CA- The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team shot a total team score of 756 to finish in fourth place at the 2009 Tee-Off Classic held at the Los Serranos Golf Course.
Freshman Matt Parkovich (Edison HS) led the Hawks with a two-day score of 147. He shot an even-par round of 74 on the north course on day one and followed with a 1-over-par 73 on the south course on day two.
Freshmen Connor Covington (Villa Park HS) shot a 74-75 and Julian Ramirez (Brea Olinda HS) shot a 70-79 to each finish with a 149 for SCC. Freshman Benny Santa Maria (Mater Dei HS) carded a 155 (77-78), followed by sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 156 (77-79) and freshman Joey DePrieto (El Modena HS) at 157 (81-76).
Palomar College took first place overall with a team score of 730. Orange Coast College took second place at 734 and Cypress College rounded out the top three at 744. Saddleback College (5th-763), Citrus College (6th-766), Riverside College (7th-772), Cuyamaca College (8th-776), Santa Ana College (9th-777) and Ivine Valley College (10th-785) completed the field.
John San Juan from Cypress College earned medalist honors as he fired a 5-under-par round of 141.
Next: The Hawks will take on Citrus College on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the San Dimas Golf Course. Play is set to begin at 10 a.m.
