Camarco Named OEC Women’s Coach of the Year

Head Softball Coach, Lisa Camarco, was named the Coach of the Year for all female sports in the Orange Empire Conference.  The award comes after Camarco lead the Hawks to their first State Championship in the program’s short 10 year history.  With an overall record of 41-9, the Hawks posted 44% of their wins by way of the mercy rule.   Several members of the team received major awards at the state level including an Academic All-American, 2 All-Southern California Selections, 2 All-State Selections, An All-American, as well as all 4 major awards at the State Championship including Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Pitcher, Most Valuable Offensive Player, and Most Valuable Defensive player. (more)

Hawks Honored at Angel Game

The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team was honored for winning the 2016 CCCAA State Championship on Saturday night prior to the start of the Angels game against the Texas Rangers.  The Hawks were escorted down onto the field where the ceremony was held at home plate.  The announcer listed the many accomplishments of the program and presented them with a commemorative plaque for their outstanding achievements.  SCC defeated Sacramento City College 8-0 in just 5 innings to capture the programs first title in just its 10th year of existence.  Thank you to the Angels Baseball Organization for acknowledging our Hawks!

Camarco and Staff Tabbed NFCA CalJC National Coaching Staff of the Year​

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After guiding Santiago Canyon to its first California Community College Athletic Association state championship, head coach Lisa Camarco, along with assistant coaches Brandice Cutspec, Keely Decker and Marc Kendrick have been named the 2016 NFCA CalJC National Coaching Staff of the Year. State Championship Honors

Several members of the 2016 State Championship Santiago Canyon College Softball Team were honored for their outstanding contributions.  During an Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 3 members of the SCC team were honored including Emili Olague who received All-State and All-American accolades, Kaitlyn Lanksbury who received All-State Honors and Lauren Hammond who received Academic All-American Honors.  (more)

2016 CCCAA State Champions!!!

The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team won the CCCAA State Championship on its 10 year anniversary.  The Hawks defeated Sacramento City College 8-0 to bring home the first title in program history.  After dropping the first game of the State Championship Tournament to College of San Mateo, the Hawks reeled off 4 consecutive wins over a 2 day period including a 7-2 win over Cypress College, a 6-1 win over College of San Mateo, a 7-4 win over Sacramento City College and a second and final 8-0 mercy rule over Sacramento City College to capture the title.  It is the first time in at least 20 years that a team has lost game 1 and come back to win the title and the first mercy rule win in a Championship game in at least 18 years.  For the Hawks it was their 18th mercy rule victory of the year making 44% of the team’s wins this season decided by the mercy rule.  (more)

Hawks Headed to State Championship

The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team defeated Mt. San Antonio College 6-1 in the decisive game of the Super Regional Championship on Sunday held on the SCC campus.  After beating Santa Barbara City College on Friday 18-0, and Mt. SAC 2-0 on Saturday, the Hawks were in the driver's seat as the only undefeated team.  The Super Regional is a double elimination tournament which meant the Hawks would have to lose twice on Sunday in order to be eliminated.  SCC did in fact drop the first game to the Mounties, but came out on top in Game #2 in order to secure their spot in the Final Four.  (more)
