Aprille Daugherty Finishes 12th in the State

Hanford, CA - Aprille Daugherty was the Lone Hawk Golf Representative at the State Championships in Hanford for the State playoffs at Kings Country Club on November 16th and 17th.

Aprille represented herself and her college in exemplary fashion and shot two rounds of 86 and 84 to finish 12th in the State.

We are extremely proud of Aprille for her outstanding efforts and contributions to the Hawk golf program over the course of the 2009 season and want to congratulate her for such an outstanding achievement. Way to go Aprille!

Aprille Daugherty Qualifies For State Championships

Chino Hills, CA - Santiago Canyon College Women's Golf finished 3rd in the Southern California Regional Tournament with a score of 673 over the two-day tournament. Palomar and Bakersfield finished 1st and 2nd and earned a spot in the State Championships.

Aprille Daugherty led the Hawks with a two-day score of 165. Daugherty finished the tournament in 12th place and earned an individual berth into the State Championship Tournament.

McKenna Corriea and Katie Robinson were two strokes short of qualifying, finishing the tournament with a two-day score of 167. Rounding out the scores were Rachel Schindelbeck, 175, Rachel Holborn, 180, and Lexy Chavarria, 182.

Aprille Daugherty will compete in the State Championships on November 15-17 at the Kings Country Club in Hanford, CA.

Women's Golf Win Orange Empire Title

Chino, CA - The Santiago Canyon College women's golf team shot a combined 317-319 in the Orange Empire Conference finals to win their first ever women's conference golf championship.. Their 636 total beat second placed Saddleback by 47 strokes.

The overall tallies were Santiago Canyon (636), Saddleback (683), Santa Ana (757), Fullerton (849).

Leading the way for the Hawks was McKenna Corriea who shot a season best 74 and 80. Aprille Daugherty also shot a season low of 75 and 81; Katie Robinson carded 84 and 77 with a school record 5 birdies in her second round. Lexy Chavarria scored 87 and 81, Rachel Holborn 84 and 84 and Rachel Schindelbeck scored 86 and 83 with a hole-in-one in her first round (14th hole).

Santiago Canyon finishes the league with a 23-1 record and advances to next week's regional at Los Serranos. Congratulations to all the ladies and to Coach Tom Shine. Way to go Hawks!

    Women's Golf Secure Share of OEC Title

Chino, CA - Santiago Canyon College women’s golf had a big win over Saddleback  328-332 on Wednesday to secure at least a tie for the conference title.

The Hawks improved their recored to 15-1 with Saddleback moving to 13-3. Next up for the league teams will be the conference finals Nov 2-4 at El Prado Golf Course.

In Wednesday's match April Daugherty (80) and Mckenna Corriea (80) led the way. Lexy Chavarria (83) , Katie Robinson (85), Rachel Holborn (89), and Rachel Schindelbeck (93) rounded out the scoring.

Women's Golf Beat Irvine Valley

Irvine, CA -SCC shot a team score of 331 on the way to victory over over Irvine Valley at Oak Creek GC on Monday.

 

 

 

 

 

Mckenna Corriea shot an 80 to lead the Lady Hawks. Katie Robinson and Lexy Chavarria both had 83’s, Rachel Holborn 85, Aprille Daugherty 90 and Rachel Schindelbeck had an 96.

SCC goes to 9-1 in conference and plays wed at Los Serranos against Fullerton.

Women's Golf Beat Santa Ana

Chino, CA - At the El Prado Golf Course in Chino, Santiago Canyon beat Santa Ana, in a conference match, 327 to 376.

Aprille Daugherty led the team with a score of 78. She finished the day with 2 birdies. Rounding out the scoring was Mckenna Corriea, 80, Katie Robinson, 84, Lexy Chavarria, 85, Rachel Schindelbeck, 85, and Rachel Holborn, 87. This victory takes SCC's record to 8-1.

The Hawks next play at Oak Creek Golf Course against Irvine Valley on Monday, October 12.

Conference Play at Los Serranos

Chino Hills, CA - At the first of two all-conference matches, Saddleback came away with the overall victory.The match was held at Los Serranos - South course par 74. Saddleback finished with a score of 349, Santiago Canyon finished with a score of 355, Santa Ana finished with a score of 388, Fullerton finished with a score of 418, and Irvine Valley finished with no score. 

SCC finshed the day 3-1, putting their conference record at 7-1. Aprille Daugherty led with an 85, Rachel Holborn 87, Katie Robinson 91, Mckenna Corriea 92, Rachel Schindelbeck 92, and Lexy Chavvaria 95.

 

The next match for the Hawks is Wednesday, October 7 at El Prado versus Santa Ana College.

 
  
 
  
 
SCC Women's Golf Win the League Cup.

Hawks Win First League Cup

Santa Ana, CA- At the Riverview Golf Course in Santa Ana, SCC win the League Cup.  The Hawks took home the League Cup with a score of 328. Saddleback finished with a score of 355 and Santa Ana finished with a score of 386.

This win marks the first League Cup win for the Hawks. The format of the match was six holes of Alternate shot, six holes of Best Ball, and six holes of individual score.  Mckenna Corriea had three birdies to lead the way for the Hawks. 

The next match is Monday, October 5 at Los Serranos South course.

Hawks Remain Undefeated in Conference

Santa Ana, CA - SCC defeated Santa Ana and Saddleback at the Riverview Golf Course in Santa Ana. The course is a Par 70, SCC finished with a score of 317, Saddleback finished with a score of 338 and Santa Ana finished with a score of 366.

 

 

 

 

 

This victory takes the Hawks to 4-0 in conference. Mckenna Corriea led the way with a 77, eagling the par 5 17th hole. Aprille Daugherty shot her low round of the seasonwith a 78. Katie Robinson shot 79, Rachel Schindelbeck shot 83,  Rachel Holborn shot 84, and Lexy Chavarria shot 87.

The Hawks next play in the League Cup on Monday, September 28 at Riverview Golf Course.

Hawks Dominate Fullerton and Irvine Valley

Chino, CA  - At the El Prado, Chino Creek Course-par 73,  SCC shot 319,  Fullerton shot 407, and Irvine Valley had a no score due to an insufficient amount of players. Mckenna Corriea and Lexy Chavarria led the way with 78’s. Katie Robinson shot 81, Aprille Daugherty shot 82, Rachel Holborn shot 84, and Rachel Schindelbeck shot 87. This victory takes SCC to 3-0 in conference.

SCC next travel to Riverview to play Santa Ana Colleg on Wednesday, September 23.

Lady Hawks Victorious Over Citrus CC.

Chino Hills, CA - The Lady Hawks Golf Team turned in a very impressive score of 325 to record a victory over Citrus College at El Prado GC in Chino Hills on Wednesday.

Katie Robinson led the way with a 78 (her 4th straight round in the 70’s) Mckenna Corriea shot 81,Lexy Chavvaria 82,Rachel Schindelbeck 84, Aprille Daugherty 84, and Rachel Holborn 92.

Next up for the Lady Hawks is the tri-college match on  Monday 21st September when Santiago Canyon hosts Irvine Valley College and Fullerton College at El Prado.

Lady Hawks Finish 4th at Desert Classic

Palm Springs, CA - 13 teams from all over the state participated in the two day tournament. Sacramento City, 588, Palomar, 617,  Sierra, 628, Santiago Canyon, 630 were the top four teams. SCC shot a school record low team score of 314 on the first day. Leading the way for our team were Katie Robinson, 75-78 153, Mckenna Corriea, 78-75-153, Lexy Chavarria, 80-79-159, Rachel Holborn, 86-80-166, Aprille Daugherty, 81-87-168, and Rachel Schindlebeck, 91-84-175.

SCC Victorious in First Conference Match

Mission Viejo, CA - In the first conference match of the 2009 season, the Hawks finished first over Saddleback and Fullerton.

Katie Robinson was the medalist with a score of 79 for the round, that included back to back birdies on the front nine. Mckenna Corriea overcame a 10 on the par five, hole 3 and came back strong with a score of 83. Aprillle Daugherty had her low score of the season with a 84. Rachel Schindlebeck finished with an 85. Lexy Chavvaria and Rachel Holborn both had a score of 95. This win takes SCC to 1-0 in conference.

The next match for the Hawks is Fri-Sat, September 11-12, 2009 at Indian Canyons Golf Course in the Desert Tournament.

Lady Hawks Run Saddleback Close In Tee Off Classic

Led by a career best round of 74 from sophomore Katie Robinson, the Lady Hawks golf team finished second to Saddleback in the Tee Off Classic at El Prado Golf Course. Robinson posted three birdies in an outstanding round and was supported by teammates McKenna Corriea (84), Lexy Chavaria (83), Rachel Schindelbeck (86), Aprille Daugherty (86), and Rachel Holborn (89). This marked the first time in school history the entire team had posted scores under 90. The next match is Wednesday, September 9th at Saddleback (Arroyo Trabuco G.C.).

Hawks Finish Fourth at Ventura Invitational  

Ventura, CA- The tournament was played at Buenaventura Golf Course on Sunday and Olivas Links G.C. on Monday. Ten teams participated and SCC finished fourth overall. Bakersfield College won the two-day tournament with a total score of 633. SCC finished fourth with a total score of 671.

Individually freshman Mckenna Corriea shot 82-77-159 to lead SCC. Lexy Chavarria 81-84 -165,Katie Robinson 82-91-173,Rachel Schindelbeck 87-89-176, and Aprille Daugherty 94-89-183 rounded out the scoring.

SCC will be hosting the Tee Off Classic Tournament on Wednesday, September 2 at El Prado G. C.
