Equipment used and methods of applications will be covered, as well as considerations of weather conditions and need for protection for adjacent plants, trees, lawns and architecture. Protection requirements for humans, animals and household pets as well as regulations for disposal are included.

Arboriculture and Urban Forestry Management

Survey of arboriculture and urban forestry, the management of planned and naturally occurring trees in and around urbanized areas such as cities, parks and residences. Arboriculture is the art and science of selecting, planting, and maintaining landscape trees; students will become familiar with the principles and practices of urban forestry and arboriculture.
The California Oak

This course specializes on the California oak including the characteristics, life cycle and maintenance including pruning techniques. The optimum and problematic environmental conditions for prevention of disease, infestation and abnormal growth are covered along with the various pathogens and diseases commonly found are covered as well as methods of diagnosis and treatment.
