(This photograph was taken at the south end of the soldier's barracks.)

West end of the south wing of the mission showing conservation efforts by the Landmark's Club and the Archaeological Project sponsored by UCI, Chapman University and Santa Ana College.
(Floors, wall foundations, and other artifacts in the subsurface can be damaged by water or roots.)

This doorway of the Serra Chapel (circa 1790's)  has some of the original paint (turquoise, reddish) and white lime plaster used to protect the original adobe bricks.

This is an original ceiling, which now serves to cover the mission gift shop.  This may be the only ceiling of its kind left in California, and has been seismically stabilized by conservation experts.
