Under the guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, student records are confidential, and privacy is to be scrupulously maintained.
Right to Review and Challenge Records:
Under the provisions of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare,
students have the right to inspect and review any of the following files:
– data processing
– financial aids
After review and exploration, students may challenge any information relating
to them if they believe information to be inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise
in violation of their rights of privacy or other rights. Forms for challenge
are available in the Area Dean of Instruction and Student Services office.
District staff or other professionals who have a legitimate educational interest
such as counseling and carrying out the normal operations of the educational
program have access to student records.
Any student has the right to file complaint with the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare concerning alleged failure of the institution to comply with provisions above or Section 438 of the General Provision.
