Adheres to Clinical Practice Guide­lines for treating tobacco use and dependence. This guideline has been established through evidence-based outcomes that combine nicotine re­placement therapy and behavioral counseling. The course includes infor­mation on nicotine replacement thera­py, rationale for cessation, identifying trigger points, coping skills and relapse prevention. The student will be encour­aged to set a quit date after the first session.

This course includes basic guidelines for dealing with emergency situations and handling safety issues arising from natural or man-made causes such as earthquakes, brush fires, home/building fires, freeway travel safety, floods and landslides.
