College algebra is course which will strengthen your algebra skills to improve you ability in statistics. business calculus or modeling real world data in and of themselves. You will be using a graphing calculator throughout the course to match data to polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions.
You also have the opportunity to do all homework online or from the textbook. However, everyone is expected to complete problems from the text for class discussion. You will find those listed below under Class Discussion Problems.
By the end of this class, you will:
- Solve equations and inequalities using algebraic, numerical, and graphical processes, in both mathematical and applied settings, and correctly interpret the results as measured by completion and accuracy of individual tasks graded by teacher-generated rubric.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and appropriate application of absolute value, polynomial, radical, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions, as measured by completion and accuracy of individual tasks graded by teacher-generated rubric.
- Formulate and analyze mathematical models for a variety of real-world phenomenon and use mathematical and technological tools to determine the veracity of the model as measured by completion and accuracy of individual tasks graded by teacher-generated rubric.
- Demonstrate knowledge, comprehension, and application of concepts from college algebra, including but not limited to finding roots, describing end behavior, categorizing discontinuities, and discussing behavior near asymptotes, as measured by completion and accuracy of individual tasks graded by teacher-generated rubric
