MATRICULATION INFORMATION


The matriculation program consists of a program of assessment, orientation and academic advisement for students without Bachelor degrees who plan to do any of the following:
  1. accumulate 15 or more units,
     
  2. enroll in an English, ESL or math course,
     
  3. work toward an Associate degree, occupational certificate, or transfer program to a four-year university,
     
  4. prepare for new career, career goals and plans.
     
  5. undecided with their major.

TESTING INFORMATION


Make an appointment now!
  1. Before testing, an application to Santiago Canyon College must be completed and submitted to the Admissions office.
     
  2. You will be given a testing appointment when you turn in your application or you may call (714) 628-4812 or (714) 628-4800.
     
  3. Bring the proper I.D. when you come for your testing.  REMEMBER, A PICTURE I.D. IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PLACEMENT TESTS.

ORIENTATION & ADVISEMENT SESSION

Orientation must be completed prior to Registration!

  1. The date and time for this session will be given to you when you take your placement test.
     
  2. You will be given your test results at the orientation and advisement session.

Nêu ban không biêt nhiêu tiêng Anh thì khi dên dê nhân giây hen di thi, ban cân tìm hoi tin túc liên quan dên bài thi xêp hang loai ESL.

REGISTRATION BY APPOINTMENT

Placement testing must first be completed prior to registering!

 

  1. Your registration appointment time and date is given to you when you apply to the college.
     
  2. You can register online.  For instructions on how to register, please read the directions in the Class Schedule or on the college website.

INFORMATION FOR NEW STUDENTS FROM OTHER COLLEGES (Transfers)

If you have attended another college you may:

  • Have a copy of your official transcripts mailed to the Admissions & Records Office at Santiago Canyon College if a counselor needs to review pre-requisites.
     
  • Testing:  If you tested less than two years ago, bring any official copies of placement test results in English, reading , and/or math to Counseling to determine whether it is advisable to complete additional placement testing.  Placement test information from other colleges must include:  your name, name of the test(s), the raw score(s) and test date(s).
     
  • ESL Tests from other schools are not accepted.
     
  • Calling to see a counselor by phoning the Santiago Canyon College Counseling Center at (714) 628-4800, room D-106.  Bring a copy of your transcripts from other colleges (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).

Fire Academy, Nursing Program or POST
(CJ Academy) Students Placement Testing


NOTE:  Students applying to the Fire Academy, Nursing Program, or POST (CJ Academy) should complete placement testing regardless if testing or coursework was completed at another college.  Students in these majors must sign up for an orientation in the Counseling office at Santa Ana College.

Exceptions:  Fire Technology students with BA degrees do not have to complete placement testing.  CJ students do not have to complete math testing.

Students who are unsure whether they should complete matriculation may consult the Counseling Department at (714) 628-4800 at Santiago Canyon College.  All new students to Santiago Canyon College are encouraged to complete the matriculation program.
