Career Exploration
This service provides students with the opportunity to learn the details of their specific career choice.  This information includes: job description, salary, outlook, and educational requirements.


Employer-Campus Partnerships (Job Fair On-Campus )
Career Services strives to establish connections among local employers and SCC students seeking employment.  We recognize one direct method of reaching out to students is through job fairs on-campus . Interested employers should contact Career Services to participate in the Spring job fair.  SCC students should call or visit Career Services to learn which companies will be participating in the Spring job fair on campus.


Research Library
A variety of career-related web-sites, publications, and career files are available for students to access and view.

 

Classroom Presentations
The Career Guidance Coordinator is available for classroom presentations, providing students with an overview of career-related support resources available in D-106 Career Services.

Career Programs

Speakers Connecting Careers (Lecture Series)

This program provides a gateway for professionals to lecture and dialogue with students who are interested in learning about specific careers and industries. Past lectures have included: FBI, ​​law, city planning, international business, and social work.         

 

“Career Odyssey”

Career Services staff and an academic counselor present an introduction to their services to the English  N60 classes.

 

Employment Preparation Workshops   

The employment preparation workshops assist SCC students on how to conduct job search using​ College Central, resume development and interviewing techniques. Please call for available dates and times.

 

Career Development Workshops

  • Free introductory assessments (personality, interest)
  • Career Exploration (job description, salary, outlook, and education)
  • Informational Interviews (how to identify contacts, questions to ask, and follow-up)
  • Referral to Academic Counselor​​​​Career Services staff recommend taking the assessments in a quiet location free from distractions, allowing yourself enough time to complete all the assessments.  Take your time answering the questions and always rely on your first instinct when responding.  Once you have completed the assessments, please bring a print out of your results to Career Services for an interpretation.
