Paul Z. Garcia,
Transfer student to UCLA, fall 2009
As the 2008-2009 academic year student trustee, Paul Garcia represented over 35,000 Santiago Canyon and Santa Ana College students as a non-voting member of the Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) Board of Trustees, the elected governing body of the college district. Student trustees are selected from among applicants who have served in associated student government/organization leadership positions at either Santiago Canyon or Santa Ana Colleges.
Paul will attend UCLA in the fall of 2009. As an SCC student, he majored in political science and history. He was a member of the Honors program and served as an Associated Student Government (ASG) senator from 2007-2008. In 2007, Garcia joined the college AmeriCorps program and volunteered as a foster youth mentor. He was so inspired by the experience that he founded the AmeriCorps Service Club for students and served as its first president in 2007-2008. He also participated in SCC’s Student Leadership Institute.
Paul’s career goals include attending law school and becoming an attorney who serves the underrepresented.
