Through special programs, classes, group or individual counseling, the SCC counseling department is committed to providing you with the assistance and advice that you need to successfully complete your academic, career, and personal goals.
Counseling services include:
Career exploration and university transfer information
Career development for undecided majors
Testing and interpretation
- Educational planning and course selection
- Referral for special classes and/or testing
- Application workshops for Cal State and University of California
- New student orientations
Counselors are also available to help students:

Tuesdays: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Wednesdays: 8:00am - 7:00pm
Thursdays: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Fridays: 8:00am - 12:00pm
The SCC Counseling Office provides full, 45-minute individual counseling appointments on a weekly basis during the semester. These appointments are useful in determining academic/career goals, exploring degree options, and developing a comprehensive Student Education Plan. These appointments are also required for all Veterans and Financial Aid Appeals students in need of a Counselor Program Approval (CPA).

Drop-in Counseling is designed for students to receive quick answers to time-sensitive questions, with each meeting lasting 5 - 10 minutes in duration max.
Drop-in availability varies - call the Counseling Office at (714) 628-4800 for current drop-in counselor availability.
ATTENTION Veterans and Financial Aid Appeals Students in need of a Counselor Program Approval (CPA):
Your circumstance requires a 45-minute appointment - please identify this as your issue when calling the Counseling Office at (714) 628-4800. You cannot receive a CPA on a Drop-in basis.
NOTE: Please bring in your unofficial SCC transcripts and your student ID number when visiting the Counseling center for advisement.
