In 2005 students at S.C.C. established an Anthropological Society. The group plans to take educational trips to museums, off campus lectures and travel to historic and archaeological sites. The Society helps the Anthropology faculty and Society members help themselves in learning a great deal about Anthropology. A newsletter is planned with monthly meetings in order to transmit information about the field of Anthropology.

Over the year’s students in the Rancho Santiago Community College District have been involved in a number of Archaeological and Historic Preservation projects. They have worked at such places as The Irvine Ranch Headquarters, The San Juan Capistrano Mission, The Santa Isabel and Pala Missions.

Students learn how to use modern technology, traditional methods and current conservation methods and techniques. When possible the work of our students is published in professional reports and books. Some of their work can be seen in the publications noted below.
