Scott: Congrats! You got the job as the Distance Education Services Specialist!

SCC Faculty: Congratulations! Now what do you do exactly? What areas of support and services can you provide?

Amanda: I am having fun, combining my passion for accessibility, design experience, tech skills, and creativity into helping ensure an accessible and invaluable online learning experience for the students here at SCC! That all starts with providing the training, resources, advice and support to the faculty here at SCC for Distance Education.

So, working as the Distance Education Services Specialist for SCC, I am available to support faculty in a variety of ways:

Canvas LMS Support: Training faculty on Canvas by teaching new tips and tricks, as well as assist with troubleshooting.

Online Course Design: Giving advice on online course organization, learning objectives, as well as the overall aesthetics of the course including course art, banners and buttons.

Online Course Development: Assisting in the online course development process including course structure setup, content conversion, as well as content creation including interactive content.

Online Course Accessibility: Advising on online course accessibility, walking faculty through the elements of accessibility in their online courses and providing training as needed along the way.

Providing Workshops: Providing a variety of workshops on relevant topics in online learning.

I am also currently working on a database to house a variety of training materials, important documents, resources, as well a design library to be utilized for online learning. Faculty will be able to login and utilize the training materials as needed, as well as download course shells, buttons, and banners from the design library.
