I am happy to announce that Santiago Canyon College will now offer on-going Instructional Technology Workshops for faculty and staff with the goal of further promoting student success. The plan is to conduct two workshops per month using an interactive and hands-on format.
Each workshop will feature customized training and provides attendees with materials and resources to take with them to help implement what has been learned.
The workshops for this fall and intersession will be:
Extending your Reach with Video (Friday, November 8th from 9-12, Room TBD)
Whether your information is a lecture or a student service, screen recording can help you extend your reach, providing students with increased access. Participants will learn how to download, install and use CamStudio and Jing to create video presentations.
Microsoft Word Formatting (Friday, December 13th from 9-12, Room TBD)
Formatting documents can be difficult. Come learn how to use proper headings, breaking, kerning (I threw this in to impress you, however we will discuss it), tabbing and tab stops, and so much more! Bring some of your documents so we can discuss and fix common formatting mistakes.
Light Video Editing (Friday, January 10th from 9-12, Room TBD)
If you are using video you will eventually want to learn how to splice, combine, edit, trim, enhance, etc. Participants will learn how to use Microsoft Movie Maker to import, edit videos, and add effects. Bring a video to play with or use mine.
Blackboard Grade Center (Friday, January 24th from 9-12, Room TBD)
Using the Blackboard Grade Center is a great way to provide your students with timely feedback. Participants will design a grade center that represents a section currently being taught.
