Santiago Canyon College (SCC) offers a range of opportunities for students to gain hands-on learning activities in the fast-growing field of biotechnology. With as little as three classes, you can be prepared for an entry-level position in this burgeoning field. Biotechnology utilizes cellular and biomolecular processes to develop technologies and products that improve our lives and the health of our planet.
The biotechnology field has been booming throughout Southern California, which is home to over 1,300 companies that employ over 48,000 people in the life science sector. The average earnings of these jobs is $86,000 annually. One of the reasons for this growth has been large pharmaceutical companies seeking the next high-demand drug coupled with an aging population dealing with numerous chronic disorders.
