Esthetician Program Basics

To earn a certificate of proficiency in the Esthetician program, you must complete 600 hours of instruction (as mandated by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.) A combination of lecture and laboratory instruction includes:


·         Personal hygiene and grooming

·         Salesmanship and skills in serving the public

·         Sterilization and the principles of sanitation

·         Use of electrical appliances and principles of electricity

·         Safety requirements in operation of a skin care salon

·         Laws and administrative regulations

·         Fundamentals of nutrition

·         Skin care techniques

·         Principles of chemistry and composition of cosmetic materials


Upon successful completion of this program, you will be ready to take the California State Board of Esthetician written and practical exams. Once you pass the exams, you will be poised to provide services to clients in a safe, professional and satisfactory manner.
