The vision of the Communication Department is to supply a full range of preparatory, life enrichment, certificate and degree tracks for the native and non-native, transfer and non-transfer students. The department will offer curriculum that fosters effective and ethical communication while enlightening and empowering students to become productive citizens in private, social and business environments.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Santiago Canyon College Communication Department offers comprehensive communication classes for all students and community members. The curriculum is designed to assist all students in meeting their individual educational goals ranging from preparatory to life enrichment to certificates and degrees.
Upon completion of any course in communication, the student should be able to:
- Better manage apprehension in communication settings.
- Present the self appropriately and effectively through verbal and nonverbal communication.
The department provides two primary areas of emphasis; interpersonal skills and the presentation of Self in public. The SCC Department of Communication is currently chartered as the Omicron Chapter of the Sigma Chi Eta Communication Honors Society.

Developing your communication abilities sets you apart from the rest of the work force. The Santiago Canyon College Department of Communication offers a wide array of courses that help to nurture anyone's ability to think critically, and share that information in an effective and appropriate way.
