Santiago Canyon College’s Online Fundraising Auction Begins November 12

TGIF goes green

Orange—Members of the public are invited to participate in an online auction to benefit Santiago Canyon College’s programs and students beginning Thursday, Nov. 12.

The online auction is a new twist on SCC’s annual TGIF Celebration. TGIF stands for “Treasures, Gratitude, Involvement & Friendship.” This year’s event entitled, “TGIF Goes Green to Raise Green,” will be a week-long fundraiser.

“We’re excited to open the TGIF Celebration to the larger audience by going online,” said John Hernandez, vice president for Student Services. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to support important programs that directly benefit students.”

Preview of the auction items is available on the TGIF webpage ( Proceeds raised will be used to support scholarships and program development through the SCC Foundation.

“It’s a great way to do your holiday shopping from home,” said SCC’s Lynn Manzano, who is organizing the auction. “You can save on gas, and you won’t have to deal with parking lot rage.”

The TGIF online auction will begin at noon on Thursday, Nov. 12 and will close at noon on Friday, November 20. The college will host a closing reception ($5 donation) on Friday, Nov. 20 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the SCC Library for those interested in attending. Computers will be made available for last-minute bidding and payment for winning auction items.
