My favorite teachers always make a point of showing how the course material relates to the real world. In my classes, I strive to emphasize the things that students will find meaningful here on our campus and out in our community as well.
For all philosophy classes, open discussions play a large role in the educational process. Since these discussions play such a prominent role, I strive to create a classroom environment where all students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. Some of our time will be spent covering standard course material. Usually, I present this material in PowerPoint. My current students also have access to course websites that I offer through Blackboard. These sites serve to supplement the experience that students have in the classroom.
