Borrowing & Returning Materials

​​​All eligible users must present a current photo I.D. (student, RSCCD or government-issued) and/or a valid Santiago Canyon College Library card in order to borrow materials.

Each borrower is responsible for the materials checked out by him/her and for knowing when those items are due. To view items borrowed and due dates online, borrowers can go to the Library Catalog on the Library Homepage and select Menu-> Library Card, then sign into WebAdvisor.

There are no renewals on 7-day loan items, including DVDs and magazines.

Course reserve material is limited to currently enrolled credit and not-credit Santiago Canyon College students; inquire at Library Circulation Desk regarding loan periods and renewals.

Materials are considered “returned” when they are received and checked in by library staff. 

SCC and SAC Students

  • Number of check-outs:  15 items (no more than 2 DVDs, 5 CDs) 
  • Check-out period:  Books -21 days except for 7-day loan items; 
  • DVDs - 3 days   Renewals:  
  • One 7-day renewal on 21-day loan items 
SCC/SAC Faculty  
  • Number of check-outs:  15 items 
  • Check-out period: final day of semester & Intersession;  
  • 21 days during summer sessions [EXCEPTIONS: Best Sellers, periodicals, and videos/DVDs]   
  • All materials must be physically brought to the Library for return on, or before the due date. 

SCC/SAC/District Office Administrators & Staff  

  • Number of  checkouts: 15 items
  • Check-out period: 21 days except for 7-day loan items
  • Renewals: One 7-day renewal on 21-day loan items

RSCCCD Board Members

  • Number of check-outs: 15 items 
  • Check-out period: 21 days except for 7-day loan items
  • Renewals: One 7-day renewal on 21-day loan items 

Reciprocal Borrowers, i.e., CSUF & CSULB students & faculty

  • Number of check-outs:  5 items
  • Check-out period:  21 days except for 7-day loan items
  • Renewals:  One 7-day renewal on 21-day loan items

Friends of the Library

  • Number of check-outs:  5 items
  • Check-out period:  21 days except for 7-day loan items
  • Renewals:  One 7-day renewal on 21-day loan items
