Ashley Roskelly Wins United Soccer Coaches’ Junior College Women’s Title
(Orange, CA) – Santiago Canyon College (SCC) today announced that United Soccer Coaches has named SCC woman’s soccer player Ashley Roskelly National Player of the Year for Junior College Women - Division 3.
The announcement follows Santiago Canyon College (SCC) Women’s Soccer team’s second consecutive-year win of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Women’s Soccer State Championship earlier this month. Roskelly was team captain for both the 2018 and 2019 Back-to-Back State Championship seasons, with nine goals and seven assists in the 2019 season.
“In soccer, stats do not always give the complete picture,” said head coach Ian Woodhead. “Nine goals and seven assists from a holding-midfield position is a fine achievement. But more important is Ashley's leadership on and off the field. Her actions and words make her a worthy choice for this prestigious award.”
Roskelly is the first Hawk since Leslie Bryant in 2009 to be named “National Player of the Year.”
Roskelly was named State Final-Four Tournament MVP and her interview after the game
