Earth Day Events Slated for Santiago Canyon College on April 21 and 23

​Santiago Canyon College will be hosting Earth Day events on April 21 and 23. The events are free and open to the public as well as students, faculty, and staff.

Earth Awareness Day Event - April 21

Throughout the day there will be raffles with prizes including a bicycle, duffle bags, and succulents. Tristan Carr, SCC Associated Student Government’s director of green operations said, “I hope people will walk away with a broader and more aware perspective of our relationship with the Earth.” Free snacks and water will be available. Free parking is available in student lots.

WHEN:

Thursday, April 21, 2016: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

A tree planting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. between the Lorenzo Ramirez Library and E
Building.

A panel at 11 a.m. will promote careers in environmental sciences careers. Speakers will include Tom Ryan, adjunct faculty and environmental consultant.

WHO:

Southern California vendors will offer eco-friendly exhibits. Representatives from Century High School will be on hand to display their solar electric car. Tropical Plaza Nursery, Inc., of Villa Park will promote how to conserve water through retrofitting and drought-resistant landscape options.
