Free one-day worldwide event designed to help beginners and experts
navigate cloud computing software for apps
(Orange, CA) - Santiago Canyon College (SCC) will be one of 190 worldwide sites - only one of three in California - to host the 2015 Global Azure Bootcamp on Saturday, April 25. The free event, taking place simultaneously worldwide, will consist of presentations, demos, and labs offering hands-on help to new developers, as well as experienced developers, for Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform.
Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. in Building B, rooms 102 and 106 at Santiago Canyon College, 8045 E. Chapman Avenue, Orange. Free parking is available in Lot 2. There will also be free refreshments and giveaways for participants.

According to event organizers, Microsoft Azure experts as well as community enthusiasts are teaming up to provide developers with support and coaching, as well as connect developers with their peers. In addition to learning and sharing information about Azure, the hands-on lab will feature pooling a huge global compute farm in order to perform research for charity. This marks the third event of its kind hosted by Microsoft. For Santiago Canyon College, this is the first time to host a Bootcamp, and second time to serve as a global host for a Microsoft event. Last year the college was one of only 60 worldwide sites to host Microsoft’s PublishIt event, a free hands-on event for app developers.
SCC Computer Science Professor Ronald P. Kessler, Ph.D., MCSE, who was instrumental in organizing
the event, said the college has other goals, as well. “As an educator, my hope is that events like this will serve to develop new curriculum and classes, and to also close the gap between academics and the commercial sector,” said Kessler.
To participate in the demos and labs, attendees will need to bring a laptop with Windows 7 and Microsoft Azure subscription, and Visual Studio 2013. Free versions and trial subscriptions are available on the online registration page.
The event is open to the public. Although the event is free, online registration is required at
