SCC Art Gallery Opens New Show Featuring Artwork by Chris Rioux

(Orange, CA) - Santiago Canyon College (SCC) will host an opening reception for the exhibit of artwork by SCC alum Chris Rioux on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Rioux is best known on campus as the artist who created a pizza sculpture that hung in the college’s D-Building. Rioux has gone on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State University, Fullerton, and is currently working on a Master of Fine Arts there.

Rioux is a traditional painter who focuses on portraits and still life paintings on a large scale. The subjects he selects for his paintings are everyday objects, himself and his friends. For his show at SCC he will fill the gallery with large portraits and still life paintings.

Gallery hours are Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment. The work of Rioux will be on display from October 1 through November 11. The opening reception is free and open to the public.

The SCC gallery is located in the center of campus in the northeast corner of the “D” building. Free parking for this event is available in the visitor section on the north side of Lot 4. Additional parking is also available for $2 from pay stations in any of the other Santiago Canyon College parking lots. Santiago Canyon College is located at 8045 E.
