SCC Foundation Golf Tournament to Benefit Guardian Scholars Program for Former Foster Youth at Santiago Canyon College

(Orange, CA) - It will soon be tee time at Santiago Canyon College (SCC) as the SCC Foundation hosts the 19th Annual “Changing Students’ Lives” Golf Tournament. The tournament will take place on Friday, April 26 at Tustin Ranch Golf Club. Proceeds will support the Guardian Scholars Program for former foster youth at SCC.

“The tournament promises to be a day of fun and an opportunity to support students who are most at risk of dropping out of college – our former foster youth. The majority of the proceeds from the tournament will go directly to the program that help these students cope with an array of personal challenges and stay on track to succeed,” said SCC President John Hernandez, Ph.D.

“The Guardian Scholars program has given me confidence to pursue my goals of achieving higher education,” said Kyle Williams, SCC student and Guardian Scholars program participant. “The program has helped me face the adversity of being a student with a foster care background, as well as providing me with the necessary tools to succeed during my journey at SCC.”

Registration and the driving range open at 9 a.m., with a putting competition starting at 9:30 a.m. Shotgun play and the four-person scramble will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Once play concludes at 4 p.m., the cash bar will open followed by an after party and awards ceremony. New this year during the after party is a helicopter golf ball drop, which will be live-streamed on Facebook. Winners of the golf ball drop do not have to be present to win.

Registration is $250 per golfer, and includes 18 holes of golf, use of a golf cart throughout the tournament, access to the club’s driving range, lunch, on-course beverages, a gift bag and the after party. Non-golfers can join the fun and purchase after party tickets for $40. Tickets for the golf ball drop are $10 each, $50 for 6 or $100 for 13.

Sponsorships are also still available with opportunities ranging from $250 to $10,000. Visit, call 714-628-4888 or email for more information.
