(Orange, CA) – The Santiago Canyon College Foundation has received a generous $15,000 grant from the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation to support the Veterans Service Office (VSO) at Santiago Canyon College. Established by the late Stanley Wayne Ekstrom – an innovative businessman, humanitarian, and philanthropist – the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation honors Stan’s legacy by funding causes he supported in life, including organizations that promote social welfare, education, animal welfare and the wellbeing of active duty and retired military members and their families.

Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation logo“We are very grateful to the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation for supporting our VSO with this generous grant at this critical time,” said Syed Rizvi, Vice President of Student Service and Executive Director of the SCC Foundation. “The pandemic has created unprecedented economic challenges for our veteran students, and these funds will help us help more of them stay on track and get their college degrees.”

The grant will be used to purchase loaner laptops, calculators, printer ink, Wi-Fi hot spots, online textbook access codes, and other school supplies, as well as fund scholarships and emergency grants for veteran students. Funds will also be used to support marketing efforts to attract more veteran students to the program and the strong support network it provides.
