Santiago Canyon College Accreditation Reaffirmed for Seven Years



(June 21,2022) - - Orange, CA -– Following a jubilant 23rd annual commencement ceremony lauding the outstanding achievements of Santiago Canyon College's (SCC) graduating Class of 2022, campus administrators, faculty and staff were elated to receive even more wonderful news.

The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges announced that it was reaffirming SCC's accreditation for the next seven years. Beyond having its accreditation reaffirmed, SCC also received a special commendation noting:

“The Commission commends the College for strong participatory governance processes and structures, which are based on a regular and systematic cycle of assessment, provided a solid and strong foundation for the College to navigate the challenges successfully and seamlessly for continued delivery of high-quality education and services as well as support for faculty and staff, in the midst of a global pandemic and significant leadership changes."

“It is a rare event that a college receives a commendation and I would like to applaud the entire SCC campus community for their transformational efforts and hard work," emphasized Rancho Santiago Community College District Chancellor, Marvin Martinez.

The ACCJC accredits community colleges and other associate degree granting institutions in the Western region of the U.S. Accreditation is a thorough external quality review to evaluate overall educational quality and institutional effectiveness.  Receiving such an accreditation signifies that the college has gone above and beyond in meeting its standards and is effectively serving students and communities within its service area – Anaheim, Orange, Tustin and Villa Park.
