Santiago Canyon College Receives $100,000 for Veterans Support Funding

(Orange, CA) – Santiago Canyon College (SCC) has received funding to support their Veterans Service Office (VSO).

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office allocated $4.9 million to 90 community colleges that have veterans resource centers, including SCC. The funds will be used to support veterans as they transition into civilian life.

The SCC Veterans Service Office provides assistance with admissions and registration, along with support services, speakers and workshops for veteran students. “Our Veterans Service Office is a vibrant and welcoming place,” said Dr. John Hernandez, SCC President. “SCC faculty and staff are committed to helping veteran students succeed as they pursue their educational goals. This new funding allows us to expand services to better serve our veteran students.”

This past Spring, SCC received designation as a “Military Friendly ® School”. The list of Military Friendly ® Schools and ratings are assessed through the evaluation of both public data about the institution and proprietary data gathered through the survey. The annual, date-driven survey is offered to more than 8,800 institutions nationwide.
