Applying To Nextup
- Complete the NextUp Application (Microsoft Form).
• Upload foster care verification documents (or apply without them—our team can help you get them). - Review and agree to the Mutual Responsibility Agreement (sent after application review).
- Meet with an academic counselor to create an education plan with a goal of enrolling in 9 units.
Eligibility Requirements
- Were in foster care, in any state, for at least one day, on or after their 13th birthday.
- Are enrolled in or planning to enroll in at least nine units or agree to an education plan with the future goal of enrolling in nine units.
- Are no older than 26 years of age at the commencement of any academic year in which the student first enrolls in the program; students enrolled in the program prior to turning 26 are allowed to continue participating in the program beyond 26.

Student Participation
The NextUp Mutual Responsibility Agreement highlights the following:
“To set myself up for success and get the most out of the NextUp program to further my education and personal goals, I agree to the following:
- Attend at least two meetings with my academic counselor each semester to create or update my education plan and discuss my academic goals, celebrate my progress, and connect to campus and community resources.
- Attend at least two NextUp events each semester to expand my personal and professional network and connect with my campus community.
- Complete a mid-semester progress report each semester to update the NextUp program staff on my academic progress and identify strategies to better navigate school.”
