SCC’s Nursing Assistant Programs
SCC’s Nursing Assistant Programs Are Opening Doors to Healthcare Careers Fast!

Continuing Education at Santiago Canyon College is transforming lives through fast, accessible healthcare training. With a 100% pass rate for its Spring 2025 CNA cohort and the successful launch of an Acute Care program, SCC is opening doors to meaningful careers in just one semester. Graduates are already bringing their skills to local hospitals and care facilities, serving our communities with compassion and professionalism.
This spring, Santiago Canyon College’s Continuing Education Division celebrated a major milestone: all 38 students who tested on May 31 from the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) spring 2025 cohort passed the California state certification exam, achieving a 100% pass rate. The success marked a powerful moment for students, faculty, and the broader healthcare community.
The testing room was full of excitement and emotion as students learned they had officially earned their certification. Many are already pursuing employment at local skilled nursing facilities, bringing their training to life in a field where compassion and professionalism matter most.

And the momentum is growing.
This summer, SCC launched three new cohorts 45 CNA students and 15 Acute Care students who are currently immersed in intensive classroom instruction. Clinical rotations begin the week of June 23, with CNA students placed in skilled nursing facilities and Acute Care students training at Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital, thanks to our strong network of regional partners. Behind the success is a program that’s built on quality, accessibility, and real-world outcomes. Since its start in 2016, SCC’s Nursing Assistant program has continued to grow in reach and impact. Today, we offer day, evening, and weekend cohorts to meet students where they are, serve a diverse range of learners, from high school graduates to adult career changers, and maintain a retention rate of over 90%. Additionally, the Acute Care program offers its theory course online, providing even more flexibility for working adults and caregivers.
Our Acute Care program, launched in Fall 2024, is already seeing full classrooms. All students enrolled this summer previously completed our CNA training a powerful signal of trust and continuity. This upward trajectory is also paving the way for our upcoming Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program, currently in development. And there’s even more on the horizon: SCC is actively working to launch a healthcare apprenticeship program that will combine classroom instruction with paid, hands-on work experience. These growing opportunities reflect our commitment to building meaningful career pathways for learners at every stage of life.
Notably, the demographic landscape is shifting too, more male students are enrolling, helping diversify a field historically dominated by women.
Whether you're exploring a new path, reigniting a passion, or taking your first step into healthcare, there's a place for you here. Our students come from all walks of life and leave with purpose, confidence, and a community behind them. We hope that one day, you or someone you love will experience the care and professionalism of a healthcare worker who got their start right here at SCC.
With registration now open for Fall 2025, now is the perfect time to start your path toward a career in healthcare. Our programs are fast, flexible, and built to get you working in the field in just one semester.
