President's Classified Hawks Advisory Group
The RSCCD Classified Senate disbanded during the 1990s. Then President Juan Vazquez created a venue where classified employees of SCC/OEC could regularly meet with him to hear and discuss updates or concerns about the college/district. The meetings were informal and provided an opportunity for the college president to disseminate information and provide college or districtwide updates to classified staff. This group became the President's Classified Hawks Advisory Group.
After the first year, participants introduced fundraising activities to raise revenue and create an SCC/OEC classified employee scholarship fund. Throughout the years, the Classified Hawks sponsored a variety of activities including professional development for classified staff and social gatherings.
While the tradition of meeting with the college president continued the group's level of activities subsided. In 2016, President Hernandez attempted to re-energize the group by designing purposeful meetings, each with specific topics, guest speakers, or interactive group activities. Additionally, the college president continues to use this dedicated time and space to share college updates, challenges, and to solicit feedback.
The President's Classified Hawks Advisory Group meets twice per semester. To get involved contact Miguel Luna, Classified Hawks Facilitator/Student Services Coordinator at (714) 628-4869.
