Mission
The mission of the Technology Committee is to promote effective use of technology in the college's operations. Our focus is on making recommendations in alignment with operational efficiency, student privacy, ADA accessibility, and student equity. We provide recommendations for technology purchases that further these goals and continually assess and improve the college's technological operations to support student success.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Planning & Institutional Effectiveness Committee and the Technology Advisory Group and provide a monthly summary report to the Academic Senate.
- Maintain a technology plan that aligns with District Strategic Technology Plan and state recommendations.
- Assess the technological needs of faculty, staff, and students.
- Evaluate the technological tools needed to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students.
- Based on evaluation, make recommendations concerning acquisition, implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of technologies within a secure and robust infrastructure.
- Identify and promote resource procurement to advance technology and its use by students, faculty, and staff.
- Make recommendations for technology acquisitions or initiatives that improve equitable access to technology.
- Review and discuss college security, FERPA, and ADA accessibility, to help ensure ethical and legal compliance.
- Provide ranking of technology-related Resource Requests to PIE.
Chair
One faculty member and one administrator will serve as co-chairs.
Membership
- 7 Faculty, preferably at least one noncredit and one Senate appointee
- 2 Administrators, one serving as co-chair and preferably one noncredit
- 3 Classified (appointed by CSEA)
- Director of Academic and End User Support
- Director of Student Information Support
- 1 Student
Meeting Frequency
Third Thursday of the month from 1:30-3:00 on Zoom, with the exception of October, which is TBD.
