Lactation Consultant Education
The Lactation Consultant Education Certificate of Completion prepares individuals to specialize in the clinical management of breastfeeding.
This certificate, consisting of three classes, meets the Lactation Education Accreditation and Approval Committee (LEAARC) standards of ninety hours of lactation-specific content plus five hours of communication skills to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Courses will cover requirements to become an IBCLC, including scope of practice, ethics, documentation, and clinical assessments.
This program equips professionals with practical skills to effectively address clinical management challenges when working with breastfeeding individuals.
Course Requirements
VMED 100 - Lactation Educator Specialist I (24 Hrs)
VMED 101 - Lactation Educator Specialist II (24 Hrs)
VMED 102 - Lactation Consultant Education (48 Hrs)
TOTAL HOURS OF INSTRUCTION: 96 HOURS
