FAQs
Once the International Student Program receives and approves all admission documents, an Admission Letter and, if applicable, Form I-20 will be emailed after 2-3 business days.
If you are transferring from another U.S. school: you will only receive an Admission Letter. After receiving your admission letter, you are responsible for contacting your current school and submitting a written request to transfer your SEVIS record to SCC. After our office receives your transferred SEVIS record, it will be between 5-7 days to receive the newly updated Form I-20.
Application deadlines are found here: Important Dates and Deadlines
Keep in mind, the availability of F-1 visa interviews varies from country to country. It may be difficult to schedule at your local US Embassy. Check your local Visa Appointment Wait Times. Applicants can apply for an F-1 visa up to 365 days in advance!
If you are experiencing any issues with the online application, please get in touch with our office at international@sccollege.edu and briefly detail the issue you are experiencing. Our team will assist in finding an alternative option.
- International Students must be at least 16 years of age by the first day of classes.
- Applicants under the age of 18 years old must provide proof of high school completion.
If you are an international student not currently in California, we recommend calling 714-628-4800 to schedule an appointment with the International Student Counselor, Nick Ho. When scheduling, be ready with your SCC ID number and mention you are an international student; this will help Counseling know which counselor to book you an appointment with.
The Counseling Office can be reached by the following ways:
- Phone (714-628-4800)
- Email (counseling@sccollege.edu)
- In-person (Room D-106)
- Zoom walk-ins
Visit their department webpage at www.sccollege.edu/counseling to view their most current office hours.
We recommend starting with an email. When writing an email, provide your name and any important details relating to your request/question. This could include: course name, section number, the semester, your student ID number, self-service login, etc. Providing this information in the beginning will help prevent multiple emails causing delayed communication.
If an instructor has office hours, you should be able to find that information on the course syllabus. Office hours are for you to utilize and to have a direct connection with your instructor.
An official transcript is a sealed transcript prepared by the Office of Admissions and Records. Generally speaking, it can be mailed, picked up in person, or emailed.
If you would like to request an official transcript from Santiago Canyon College, visit: www.sccollege.edu/transcripts
Unofficial transcripts are printed from your Self-Service account and generally accessible from your online student portal.
Be prepared for when a school, agency, or government requests transcripts. Example: when re-applying for an F-1 visa in person, you will want to bring official transcripts when possible.

Santiago Canyon College does not currently offer scholarships to new, incoming international students. The college offers an annual scholarship application during February and March. These scholarships are to assist with paying tuition and school related expenses but will not fully cover full tuition costs.
There are many organizations that offer private scholarships. We recommend visiting the Scholarship Department webpage for details on the different types of scholarships.
